About Me – Isabel Betancourt

At the age of 16, I discovered a personal language in metals. No one in my family worked with gold or silver, but their strength and fragility captivated me forever. Although I studied Graphic Design, I always returned to the workshop: it became my refuge, a space where I could transform ideas into tangible beauty with my own hands.

In Venezuela, I built my path as an artist with patience and love, participating in the National Goldsmithing Salon and the National Fire Arts Salon, and exhibiting in galleries in Colombia, Peru, and Chile. During my time there, I also had the opportunity to be a jewelry teacher in different schools, sharing with others the art and passion for metals. In 2018, I took my work to an international stage at Milan Jewelry Week.

Life brought me to the United States, where migration and personal experiences—the loss of my mother and my husband’s illness—forced me to step away from jewelry for a time. But that pause also transformed me. Today, with my husband recovered, I have returned to metals with renewed strength through my brand Metals by Isabel Betancourt.

My pieces, handcrafted in silver and other metals, engage in a dialogue with precious and semi-precious stones, crystals, textiles, resins, and enamels. The fusion of different techniques and the versatility of these materials speak to me until each one reveals where it belongs. That is the silent conversation I have with metals. My jewelry is not mere adornment: it is wearable art, creations that tell stories, convey emotions, and become amulets of energy and empowerment for those who wear them.

Each creation emerges from my personal journey and seeks to inspire, accompany, and remind us that even in the most difficult moments, we can always be reborn through art.
